Our Values

We are an independent, woman-owned, Fear Free Certified veterinary hospital that sees your pet as the individual they are.

Our goal with every visit is to achieve that breakthrough moment, where we have earned the trust of our patients and their guardians, and the appointment feels like a visit with old friends.

What can you expect from us?

  • Masked vet technician kneeling on the floor examining a dogs ear

    Calm and welcoming environment

We examine your pet with you and where they are most comfortable ― often on the floor ― with padded, non-slip surfaces, calming music, and pheromones to reduce stress.

Every member of our staff is a Fear Free Certified Professional, trained in safe, gentle handling techniques that utilize desensitization and positive reinforcement.

Our Emotional Medical Record of each patient helps us prepare their favorite treats, handling techniques, and even staff members for successful, stress-free visits.

  • Masked receptionist on a phone call

    Transparent and helpful communication

Ask us anything! We want to ensure you can make the best, informed decisions in the care of your companion.

Rabies Vaccination & Patient Safety

At Viking Veterinary Care, the health and safety of your pet, your family, our team, and the broader community are central to everything we do. Rabies is a serious viral disease that is fatal once clinical signs appear, but it is highly preventable through vaccination.

Oregon law requires dogs to be vaccinated against rabies by six months of age, and rabies vaccination is strongly recommended for cats. In Washington County, maintaining current rabies vaccination is an important part of protecting public health and minimizing the risks associated with animal bites and wildlife exposure. To uphold these safety standards, pets with an expired rabies vaccination may not be eligible for elective procedures, surgery, or certain treatments, at the discretion of our veterinary team. This policy helps ensure a safe clinical environment for patients, clients, and staff, and aligns with state and county public health expectations. We understand that circumstances can arise, and our team is always happy to discuss vaccination timing, answer questions, and help you bring your pet’s rabies protection up to date as smoothly and safely as possible.

Our goal is never to create barriers to care, but to practice responsible, compassionate medicine that prioritizes prevention, safety, and transparency. If you have concerns about rabies vaccination or believe your pet may qualify for a medical exemption, we encourage you to speak with us — we’re here to listen and partner with you in your pet’s care.
